Challenge

Like many companies, Ivanti didn’t have a robust video strategy until a few years ago. “When I started, there was no in-house video production, other than some boxes in a closet and an old camera,” says Rob Gilchrist, Sr. Manager of Video Production at Ivanti. With years of experience at production houses and agencies, Rob was tasked with building Ivanti’s video strategy from scratch — and he knew Vimeo would be its foundation.

“From day one, the first platform we used was Vimeo,” says Rob. “I’ve been using Vimeo since the early days, when there were only a few artists uploading their videos there. After all those years of great experiences, there was no way I was going to use another hosting platform.”

As they began to develop their video strategy, guided by Ivanti’s tagline of “Making the Everywhere Workplace Possible,” Rob and his team knew they could be doing more to keep every employee engaged with video — while living up to their own standards of security.

Solution

Two guiding tenets led Ivanti to expand into Vimeo Enterprise: security and user experience.

With employees in multiple time zones, SSO ensures employees can securely access content at any time. “Before SSO, any video could technically be scraped off our intranet, even though it required a login,” says Rob. “Vimeo Enterprise helps us lock the content down.”

And for user experience, Vimeo’s custom player means viewers can focus on the content. “If you’re watching a beautiful video in a horrible UI, it distracts from the content,” he says. “Vimeo allows us to make custom changes to create our own sleek, on-brand viewing experience.”

Plus, robust user permissions means any employee can join Vimeo to work on their video initiatives. “I can add them as contributors or admins, change settings, or even use Vimeo Record,” says Rob. “It’s so simple, and it took a lot of work off our plate because they could get up to speed quickly on how things work.”

Outcome

With support from his Creative Director and CMO, Rob and his team are able to securely scale a company-wideo video strategy as a lean team. “Video is used everywhere, for everything,” says Rob, noting that Ivanti uses video across internal comms, executive comms, demos, customer testimonials, and how-to videos.

“It’s been cool to see how Vimeo has grown with us over the years,” says Rob. “The support and product improvements from Vimeo make us look good. It feels like we’re both heading the same direction.”

Vimeo is a great repository for our content, and I like that it’s made the jump to a high-end video solution. It’s designed well aesthetically, and it works well logistically.

Compared to other platforms, Vimeo has so many different tools and features, and it’s all in one place. You don’t have to have multiple different tools and platforms.
