“When I was a little child, at the age of 7, I had a bad experience during my primary school at that time. I witnessed my teachers using violent on my classmates and they didn’t allow me to express my feeling and my opinions.
I also didn’t have any chances to choose what I could learn at school. After quite a long time of dissatisfaction with the school’s teaching method, I started refusing the education. I changed my school so many times and teachers saw me as a difficult student and didn’t accept me.
At the age of 15, I stopped my education at school and started working.
In 1993, I had my own family and I became a father of 3 kids. One of them, Léone, is kind of special child because she used to have social problems during her childhood. From 3 to 18 years old, she had a lot of difficulties to communicate and to express herself.
Me and my wife, Brigitte, both agreed that the common schools are definitely not suitable for her, especially when they are still using the old negative teaching method.
L’ENFANCE DE L’ART
Therefore, we decided to create a new school. First of all for our daughter and then for all the children who are searching for a new kind of school. In 1997, we were so glad when we found out the suitable teaching method for my daughter: the Steiner pedagogy principles. After that, we opened our first class right at my house with my wife as a teacher.
It has been 9 years since we started the school. Until now, we host about 125 children from 0 to 12 years old, studying in kindergartens, nursery-school, primary school.
We became a non-profit organization named “L’Enfance de l’Art”, now established in the former boarding school of “Dames de la Providence”. Our main aim is to help parents to become more involved in their children’s education. Most of the teachers are parents of the students. Every year, there are a lot of parents who move to our city so their children can study in our schools.
In the future, me and my wife intend to broaden our organization and open more schools so there will be more children that can study with a new friendly teaching method like this one.”
